Having The Right Tools For The Job

Yesterday, we had our monthly Business Growth day, where we bring together all of our clients for a day of marketing training, business coaching, planning, scheming and masterminding.

They’re always very rewarding for all concerned, but yesterday, the Corona Virus was part of many conversations, including a group discussion on contingency planning.

It struck us…. that we had made a bit of a mistake…

We had ordered a buffet lunch.

That ordinarily means lots of fingers touching the corner of the sandwich next door, in an attempt to pick up the sandwich of choice.

We could not allow this of course, but we didn’t have the right tools for the job…. TONGS would have been ideal.

Our team tried to rally round to find some… but in the end, we had to make do with the humble fork, with myself performing the role of forking the sandwich and delivering to the plate of our wonderful clients.

(It was more tricky to use the two forks to get crisps on the plate, in a pincer type movement.)

It got me thinking about changing and adapting as a business…..

We all need the right tools to do the job, to keep the edge on competitors, deliver to the needs of our customers, make processes work and increase business performance. Some obvious ‘things’ I can think of…

  1. Tools to automate repetitive tasks
  2. Templates for documents that are used on an ongoing basis
  3. Online tools for scheduling emails and social media
  4. Tools for customer self-booking
  5. Cloud Accounting Tools
  6. Central HR systems

The list in endless.

So my question to you is this….

When it comes to changing or adapting, and the tools you need, what ONE THING would make everything else either much easier, or unnecessary?

Victoria 🙂

p.s. The one tool we have just launched is a brand new Vault of training materials and templates for our clients! A great example of putting in place the right tools for the job.
