Reasons Why Your Business Needs a Marketing Plan

Do you have a marketing plan? If not, why not? In this blog we will share with you the reasons why your business needs a marketing plan AND why having a marketing plan is crucial for your business success, PLUS three top tips on how to create a marketing plan that effectively maximises your ability to drive leads.

Having a marketing plan is essential if you want to grow your business. Why? Because it allows you to get complete clarity and laser focus on what marketing activity you need to carry out, and when, in order for you to achieve your business goals. Not only this, it MASSIVELY helps to keep you on track, keep up the momentum behind your
consistent marketing activity AND prevent feelings of overwhelm which come from being unorganised.

May people struggle with planning in any sense, but marketing particularly, as there are so many ways to approach it. Here are three top tips to help you plan your marketing effectively.

  1. Book time in your diary to plan your marketing in quarterly intervals. That way you can break your year up into bitesize and manageable activities.
  2. Be clear on your goals for each quarter and commit to only carrying out marketing activity which will help you achieve them. Ask yourself, “Will this activity take me closer to or further away from my goals” and if the answer is further away, don’t include it in your plan.
  3. Plan in a way that works for you. You may prefer to us a piece of software OR a simple Excel Spreadsheet. You may ever prefer to write up your plan with good old pen and paper. There is no right or wrong way. So long as it’s clear and makes sense to you, and you do it.
  4. And as a BONUS tip…don’t over stretch yourself. Be realistic about the time you have. You don’t need to do everything, you need to do the right things.
